Colombia is situated in the north of South America and it is bordered by Venezuela, Brazil, Peru, Ecuador, and Panama. Colombia is a geographically diverse country and has the Andes mountain range, coasts on both the Caribbean and Pacific Ocean, the Amazon River (largest river in the world) and it is home to some of the world's most complex ecosystems, ranking first in the world in terms of diversity in animal life, and second in plant life. It covers just 1% of the world's land surface, yet boasts 10% of all the world's total flora and fauna.
Colombia is the size of Spain, France and Portugal combined (446,000 sq.miles) with a total population of approximately 44 million people who enjoy constant luminosity throughout the year - equal duration of daylight and nighttime hours. The most important cities in Colombia are Bogotá D.C (capital), Medellín, Cali, Barranquilla and Bucaramanga.
